FreeDA Performance is a hybrid of Monodrama and intimate Cabaret about the artist confronting herself through the concept of the performance. Thename of the project itself, „FreeDA“, reveals its content as well. It consists of the name of an internationally recognized icon of Mexican painting, Frida Kahlo, and author's need for artistic freedom (FreeDA = FreeYES). Life and works of Frida Kahlo were used as the grounds for the play’s evolution, as the archetype through which and behind which the artist is „hiding“. Due to her own incompetence, looking for an answer in Frida's archetype, the artist is confronting herself through the concept of the play just as Frida was confronting herself by painting self-portraits.
